SUP YO was founded by Jana Olenio, yoga instructor, travel agent and NH native, and was created from pure passion for nature and outdoor adventure. SUP YO was originally formed in 2011 as a paddleboard yoga company that over time evolved into many other outdoor adventure offerings from day hikes to weeklong worldwide adventure trips.

Growing up in a rural area surrounded by nature, I was naturally drawn to outdoor adventures from a young age. Living off grid until the age of 10, activities like fishing, camping, backpacking, snowboarding, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, mountain biking, and just exploring the woods near my home fueled my curiosity and passion for connecting with the natural world. That early exposure planted a seed that has continued to grow throughout my life.

My scientific background in materials engineering and research has given me an appreciation for observing the intricate details and systems within nature. I try to bring an inquisitive yet mindful lens to my outdoor experiences, encouraging reflection on how we interact with and impact the environment. My hope is that cultivating mindfulness and awareness of our interconnection with nature leads to greater stewardship.

Some of the mindful outdoor activities I most enjoy facilitating include guided hiking trips with embedded yoga poses, mindfulness practices like forest bathing, and stand-up paddleboard yoga classes. These provide an opportunity for stress relief, gratitude, and experiencing the health benefits of nature contact. Participant feedback suggests they leave feeling recharged and more connected to their surrounding natural areas.

I’m excited to be teaching SUP yoga and leading yoga hiking excursions to help more people experience the synergies between movement, breathing, and being in nature. My hope is that these activities foster relaxation, gratitude, and motivation to care for the environment we all share.
