SUP YO was founded by Jana Olenio, yoga instructor, travel agent and NH native, and was created from pure passion for nature and outdoor adventure. SUP YO was originally formed in 2011 as a paddleboard yoga company that over time evolved into many other outdoor adventure offerings from day hikes to weeklong worldwide adventure trips.

Shelly Outwater

Shelly Outwater is a seasoned educator and leader passionate about connecting adults and youth to the natural world through outdoor leadership, hiking, camping, and yoga.

She started her yoga journey more than 18 years ago as a way to relieve the intense stress she experienced as a result of her corporate career and found it to be an effective modality for creating wellbeing in her life. Always looking to deepen her knowledge and understanding of the mind-body connection, she started her yoga teaching certification and began teaching at a residential program for teen mothers facing the challenges of raising young children without the support of family or their children’s fathers. This rewarding opportunity to teach young mothers led Shelly to pursue a focus on trauma-sensitive yoga instruction. As a result, she has taught yoga to people of all ages who are dealing with stress, anxiety, and trauma in their lives.

Shelly also has extensive outdoor training as Scoutmaster for a linked Boy/Girl Scouting Troop through Boy Scouts of America. In this role, she works with youth ages 11-17 to build their outdoor leadership acumen through hiking, camping, and adventure activities. She mentored the first two females to obtain the rank of Eagle Scout in the Town of Chelmsford, MA in 2021 and 2022.

Shelly is currently pursuing a personal goal to hike New Hampshire’s 48 4,000-footers. She has completed 17 4,000+ summits since the start of 2022. On the weekends, you will find her climbing a mountain, paddleboarding, or camping with Scouts.

A lifelong resident of Chelmsford, Shelly is excited to teach Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga classes in her home community. She also enjoys leading hikes in the White Mountain National Forest. She leads SUP YO hikes on 4,000 foot mountains, as well as yoga hikes.
