SUP YO was founded by Jana Olenio, yoga instructor, travel agent and NH native, and was created from pure passion for nature and outdoor adventure. SUP YO was originally formed in 2011 as a paddleboard yoga company that over time evolved into many other outdoor adventure offerings from day hikes to weeklong worldwide adventure trips.

A weekend retreat “off the grid” in NH’s White Mountain wilderness.

This retreat offering is something truly unique. SUP Yoga on Lonesome Lake is the first and only SUP Yoga offering held in AMC territory and we are very excited to offer this to you again this summer! If you are looking to connect with nature, yourself and other like minded souls or if you just need to “get grounded” and “back to earth,” this retreat is for you!

We will meet at the trailhead early Saturday morning for a 1.6 mile guided hike to the Lonesome Lake AMC Hut. Once we arrive, we will check in, unpack our belongings and get our bearings on our surroundings and home-base for the weekend. Mid morning, we will enjoy a very unique SUP Yoga class on Lonesome Lake, nestled in the mountains and surrounded by mother nature. Enjoy lunch on your own and spend the afternoon as you wish, hiking around the area, relaxing with a book, or paddle boarding & swimming in the lake. A family style dinner will be served at 6 PM. After dinner, enjoy an optional educational nature lecture by an AMC staff member, stargazing or board game playing – you choose how to spend your evening. Lights out at 9:30 PM.

On Sunday, enjoy waking up to a yummy hot breakfast followed by a sunrise SUP Yoga class held on the lake. After breakfast, enjoy the day as you wish.

We will have the option to gain some elevation and hike North and/or South Kinsman Mountains or Cannon Mountain (all 4,000 footers) there is also the option to hike to the overlook if you are looking to do more hiking but not ready for a 4,000 footer. You may also choose to take it easy and enjoy a nature walk around the lake, or paddle and swim.

You may head back to the trailhead at any time on Sunday and depart at your leisure but must coordinate with your guide.


NOTE: Everyone attending is responsible for carrying their own inflatable SUP (in a backpack) approx 40 lbs. We will go over all gear in the parking lot prior to ascending and take with us only the essentials – all other items will be left behind. We ask that you pack your personal belongings into your SUP pack to make carrying easier. If your personal pack is small enough it will fit into the SUP pack. In case of rain, please bring a large trash bag or pack rain cover to keep personal items dry.

Packing & Equipment

Having the right equipment during your trip will greatly enhance your outdoor experience. It is important to wear proper footwear, and carry warm clothing, foul-weather gear, food and water, and other essentials. Bring layers (including synthetic or wool base and insulating layers, and a windproof/waterproof outer shell), eat high energy foods, and stay hydrated. A sample packing list will be provided for you at time of registration.

The Lonesome Lake AMC Hut is in the backcountry and is “off the grid”

With spectacular views of the Franconia Ridge across a pristine glacial lake, Lonesome Lake Hut offers big mountain scenery without the big mountain effort. Lonesome Lake is just 1.6 miles from the trailhead, making it an ideal first-time backcountry experience and a great intro to AMC’s hut system.

Lonesome Lake Hut offers co-ed bunkrooms and separate washrooms with toilets. Bunkhouses are not heated and have no lighting. Electrical outlets are not available.
Dinner and breakfast are included with your stay.

Dinner is served family-style at 6:00 PM sharp and includes fresh bread, soup, salad, a hearty entrée, and dessert. With advance notice, we can offer child-friendly meal options and accommodate dietary preferences including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free diets.

Breakfast is served family-style at 7:00 AM sharp and includes eggs with pancakes or a baked good, plus hot cereal, fruit and breakfast meat, like bacon or sausage, with coffee, cocoa or tea.

Lunch: bring your own; otherwise soup and baked goods are available during the day.

Enclosed gender-specific washrooms have cold running water (no hot showers onsite.
Lighting is limited to common areas only. Bring a headlamp for the bunk rooms at night.
Please be respectful of other guests and observe quiet hours from 9:30 PM to 6:30 AM.
Alcoholic beverages are allowed in moderation and should be consumed in a responsible manner. Please carry in/carry out all containers.
