Our 25-hour certification course covers the following:
- Basic Equipment: Use and handling of Paddleboard, Paddle & Anchor, Paddle Types, Basic Board Layout, Transporting boards
- Basics of SUP: Land & Water: Entering/Exiting, Maneuvering, Proper Paddle Technique, Equipment Selection, Navigate Confidently and Correctly, etc.
- Paddle Skills continued
- Instruction for the SUP Beginner:
- Water Safety: US Coast Guard Laws, Water Safety, Rescue
- General Safety
- Logistics: Weather, Surrounding Environment, Varying Levels of Paddlers and Yoga Students, etc.
- On Land & On Water Lessons
- SUP Yoga: Anchoring, Classroom orientation, Building your foundation, Sequencing from beginner to advanced.
- SUP Yoga Gear: How to choose and use the correct boards for yoga. What gear is needed and legally required, what gear an instructor should always carry and how to use it.
- How to create a SUP Yoga Business of your own
Pre-Requisites:
- Registered Yoga Teacher – 200 hour or above OR currently enrolled in a 200-hour program
- Must understand/be able to properly use Stand Up Paddle gear.
- Must be comfortable on the water with strong paddling and teaching skills.
- Must be able to swim
- Must be First Aid & CPR Certified and submit proof of certification prior to course
What You Will Earn:
- SUP YO Adventures Paddleboard Yoga Certificate – 25 hours
- Credits can be applied towards your Yoga Alliance Continuing Education (YA CE)
- Tuition: $895 includes: 25-Hour course, Manual, Rental Equipment

A deposit of 50% is required to reserve your space. The balance will be due 45 days prior to the training.
If you must cancel, please do so within 30 days prior to the event by emailing supyoboston@gmail.com.Cancellations up to 30 days before the event will receive a full refund minus a $100 admin fee.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in a SUP YO teacher training three day weekend, and it was nothing short of transformative. Set against the picturesque backdrop of a peaceful lake, the experience was a perfect blend of physical challenge and outdoor nature.
Our instructor, Jana and her assistant, Lydia were phenomenal, each bringing a deep knowledge of both yoga and stand-up paddleboarding. Their enthusiasm for SUP yoga was infectious, and their expertise allowed them to provide personalized feedback to each participant, regardless of their experience level. They ensured everyone felt safe and confident, both on the board and in executing yoga poses.
The training was well-structured, balancing theoretical knowledge with plenty of practical, hands-on experience. We delved into the nuances of paddleboard safety, yoga pose adaptations anchoring on water, and mini classes on how to teach on the board in water. The curriculum was thoughtfully designed to empower us as future instructors, equipping us with the skills necessary to teach safely and effectively.
Practicing yoga on the water is magical. The gentle lapping of the water against the paddleboard, the fresh air, and the soft sounds of nature all combined to create a meditative backdrop.
The equipment provided was top-notch, with high-quality paddleboards that offered stability and comfort. This was crucial in allowing us to focus fully on mastering the techniques without worrying about our safety.
One of the most delightful aspects of the weekend was the sense of community that developed among the participants. There was a spirit of support and camaraderie that made learning and experimenting fun. We cheered each other on through challenges and celebrated each other’s successes, creating bonds that lasted beyond the training.
Beyond learning how to teach SUP YO, the weekend was a journey of personal growth. Balancing on a paddleboard while performing yoga poses taught me a lot about focus, resilience, and adapting to the environment and the flow.
In conclusion, the SUP YO teacher training weekend was an enriching experience that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in expanding their yoga practice or teaching on the water. It was not just an educational weekend; it was an adventure that nourished the soul, challenged the body, and broadened the mind. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a curious beginner, this training has so much to offer. I am grateful for this experience. Jana is an exceptional teacher.

The communication and support provided by SUP YO prior, during and after training was excellent. Jana, the owner & trainer, and her staff, Anna & Ally, were very knowledgeable, skillful and experienced in teaching us all of the required and very important content; like how to choose the right board, how to adjust your paddle to your height, how to safely use a paddle board on fresh water and salt water, to safely teach a flow. I attended the SUP YTT with Jana, it was an amazing experience and I can’t stop raving about it! The program was well laid out for each day, everything was organized and it flowed seamlessly. Thank you to Jana for putting this training together! It was such a wonderful learning experience. I feel that the 3 days was the perfect amount of time. It really helped that first day we were introduced to paddling techniques, which to my surprise, I had been paddling incorrectly the last two years. This really helped me with speed and agility. After the second day, using round robin teaching really made me forget my fears if this was something I could do or not. By the third day I was so excited to get out and teach in class with the techniques we learned. It was also a joy to meet new friends and have time to get to know one another on this trip. I am more now than ever to get out on the water this summer and teach for SUP YO!

Jana was a fabulous teacher and really helped up grow our paddling technique and learn paddle board safety, how to adapt poses on a board, equipment and the business side if SUP Yoga. The SUPYO YTT was equally filled with serious educational moments as with silly giggles amongst newfound friends. I feel like I left with the knowledge to run a competent, safe, and fun SUP yoga class as well as a new extension to my yoga family.
