Day 5 (Thursday)
Zion National Park, West Rim, Scout Lookout/Angels Landing,
This morning we will enter beautiful Zion National Park where you will begin to see stunning rock formations, rushing water of the Virgin River, lush vegetation, and even possibly some local wildlife like Desert Bighorn Sheep and Mule Deer. Upon our arrival, will take a shuttle to the trailhead of the famous West Rim trail known for its amazing views and steep drop-offs. The first two miles ascend a paved path nearly 1,000 feet including the famous twenty-one switchbacks called “Walter’s Wiggles”.  Just beyond this, you’ll reach the saddle called Scout Lookout, which provides some of the best views of Angel’s Landing and the canyon. Note: Hiking Angels Landing is no longer available. Due to high demand and dangerous sections, the National Park Service has created a permit system for those who want to hike this section. Individual permits are not authorized to be used on guided trips. After some celebratory photos and snacks, we will descend back down the trail. We will return to camp this evening for yoga, dinner and last night of camping! Driving time: Local Hiking: Scout Lookout – 3.6 miles Accommodation: Zion Ponderosa just outside of Zion National Park

After several hours of optional hiking and exploring, we depart from Zion National Park and begin our return 4.5-hour drive to Salt Lake City. We will check into our hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner. Note: Due to many natural variables in the outdoors, we take what Mother Nature provides for us when deciding on which hike we will do. Had an amazing trip with SupYo to Bryce and Zion in Utah. I was traveling solo and the meet and greet dinner was a great opportunity to meet the group before the trip began. Jana picked a wonderful tour group to take us through a week of hiking and camping, making sure we saw all of the incredible scenery.

This was one of the best trips I’ve been on. A friend of mine who had taken another trip with SUP YO invited me to go with her. There were 12 of us and everyone got along. I don’t know if the type of vacation (hiking and camping) helped to self select the people but by the end of the week we had gotten really close as a group. SUP YO also picked amazing guides. They were fun, funny, knowledgeable, and basically one of the gang with guide authority. The owner of the company came with us on this trip. She was fun, did everything we did, never put on any airs, and I felt like she was “one of us.”. All of the food, hotel, etc was taken care of. We even celebrated a birthday for one one of the hikers in the group! I am looking for more trips to go on with SUP YO and a group of us are planning to go in another trip or a weekend hike together again!!
